What is the meaning of the good lord bird? What does it represent? How does it connect to to the title of the book?
"The Good Lord Bird" represents the main character John Brown. He makes reference on page 21 saying it is "special" and then further ties it into the Bible. "Lord" represents John Browns religious ties and "Good" represents all the good John Brown is doing by his attempt to eradicate slavery through his rebellion.
What is Henry’s nickname? How did he earn it?
Henry another main character of this novel goes by the nickname Onion. He recieves this name because John Brown hands it to him, because Onion is used to being owned he assumed John Brown wanted him to eat it so he took a bite. Just to realize that in turn John Brown only gave it to him as a good luck charm. (Pgs 23-24)
What was Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a lie? Was it justifiable?
