Who is Miss Abby: Location: Pikesville/ She is the "big dog" she runs the brothel containing the malado slave women.
Who is Sibonia: A slave woman who lives in the pen. She also was running a secret rebellion. She was known as loud and crazy, but in reality she was using that as cover to protect herself from being suspected. Ultimately another slave told on her and she was later hung. She was a huge part of Onion transforming in the book.
Who is Pie: She is a woman that Onion falls in love with. She is a malado woman who lives in the brothel. She is the woman who outs Sibonia. Her only concern is money, and doing what's best for her.

What is the meaning of the good lord bird? What does it represent? How does it connect to to the title of the book?
"The Good Lord Bird" represents the main character John Brown. He makes reference on page 21 saying it is "special" and then further ties it into the Bible. "Lord" represents John Browns religious ties and "Good" represents all the good John Brown is doing by his attempt to eradicate slavery through his rebellion.
What is Henry’s nickname? How did he earn it?
Henry another main character of this novel goes by the nickname Onion. He recieves this name because John Brown hands it to him, because Onion is used to being owned he assumed John Brown wanted him to eat it so he took a bite. Just to realize that in turn John Brown only gave it to him as a good luck charm. (Pgs 23-24)
What was Henry’s rationale for continuing to live a lie? Was it justifiable?

Are You a Liar?
Question: Is it permissible to lie? If so,
when? If not, why not?
I personally believe that lieing is acceptable in certain circumstances. Many people argue that the truth will set you free or maybe that the truth will always come to the light, and although those statements maybe true there are many forgivable lies that are needed. For example, a parent may support the myth of Santa Clause, in this lie the only reason a parent will entertain this is mainly for tradition and to formulate positive memories, something a child could look forward to. Also, perhaps when a friend lies to another close friend about why they can't attend plans that they had made, He/she might do that so that their friend doesn't get their feeling hurt. Another example is maybe you have a situation in which you want to keep a secret because one is entitled to their own privacy and when the question rises you tell a small lie so that your personal information stays safe.
Lying is human nature, deceit is a human trait. There is reasoning for why we lie and when we do. Although lying is not a good trait to have, one should not judge if one is guilty of committing the same act. I feel as though as lying should be permissible in certain occasions and depending on the severity.

Who am I?
My name is Kaylene Diaz and I am Dominican- American. I speak 2 languages fluently which are Spanish and English. I have been playing tennis for about 7 years. This includes 4 years in high school and one semester in FDU. I want to become a neurologist, that's because I am very passionate about learning about the human brain, its functions and impacts on an individual. I spend a lot of time doing separate research on this topic and I read many books and articles revolving this topic. The last book I read cover to cover was Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior by Leonard Mlodinow, and this book was a psychological nonfiction. Two classes that I consider the most important for myself to learn the most out of is Biology and Psychology, reason being that they are major courses that relate to my major which is Psychology: Behavioral Neuroscience.
I would rate myself a B when it comes to my writing capabilities. I am more of a story writer, I tend to struggle most with structural writing such as essays with a specific outline. My writing experience has always been a learning journey, Every English course I've been a part of I always learn something brand new. In English 1101 I want to learn how to critically analyse a novel and be able to pull out concepts and transfer it onto a structural essay. Usually when I write I always start by letting words flow to me while typing, I've never been able to sit and pre-write/brainstorm.
I don't use social media anymore, after high school I decided to not be apart of it. It served as too much of a distraction and had no beneficial outcomes.
The most ridiculous lie I've ever told was when my mom had asked me if I ate all of the mozzarella cheese from the fridge, and I lied and said that I didn't. I swore and cried and pleaded that I didn't and then my mother found out anyways and I got punished for lying.
My definition of a hero is someone who comes to rescue people in need, and puts others before themselves.
The last time I failed at something was when I tried to attempt to ice skate and I just kept falling and failed miserably.
